Fireworks License

Papillion City Code Chapter 117 allows for the sale of fireworks in the City of Papillion from 8 a.m. on June 25th through 11:59 p.m. on July 4th and 8 a.m. on December 29th through 11:59 p.m. on December 31st of each year.


July 4th Fireworks Sales

Applications for July 4th sales of fireworks are accepted at the City Clerk's office between December 1st of the preceding year and the 2nd Friday in January of the year in which the license, if issued, would be valid. Applicants who are for-profit individuals and/or organizations must reside in the City of Papillion. Applicants who are non-profit organizations must have at least one Papillion resident as a member. The City of Papillion grants up to 14 licenses for this selling season. All applications must be approved by the City Council.


December Fireworks Sales

Applications for December sales of fireworks are accepted at the City Clerk's office from October 1st through the 4th Friday in October of the same calendar year the license, if issued, would be valid. Applicants who are for-profit individuals and/or organizations must reside in the City of Papillion. Applicants who are non-profit organizations must have at least one Papillion resident as a member. The City of Papillion grants up to 14 licenses for this selling season. All applications must be approved by the City Council.


Requirements

The following information is required for a fireworks permit for both selling seasons:

  • Application for Permit to Sell Permissible Fireworks at Retail
  • $1,000 license fee ($500 for December sales)
  • $1,000 bond
  • Affidavit of nonprofit status, if applicable
  • Internal Revenue Service 501(c)(3), if applicable
  • Certificate of public liability insurance
  • Sales tax certificate
  • Nebraska State Fire Marshall License for Sale of Fireworks
  • Plot plan
  • Building department and fire chief approval
